PERMABOND HM160

Main features

  • Medium-Viscosity High-Strength Retaining
  • Lighter Press-Fit Assembly Tolerances
  • MIL-R-46082B/ASTM D5363 Compliance

Product Description

Permabond® HM160 is a medium-viscosity, high-strength anaerobic retaining compound engineered to secure and seal cylindrical metal assemblies. It cures when confined in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces, transforming into a tough, hard plastic that keys into surface irregularities to fill the space between mated parts. By augmenting press fits, it allows for looser manufacturing tolerances and lighter press fits, ultimately reducing machining costs and preventing fretting corrosion and vibration-induced loosening.

Key features

  • Cost-reducing design: Allows the use of lighter press fits and easier-to-assemble tolerances, decreasing required machining precision and manufacturing costs.
  • Military and ASTM specified: Thoroughly tested to meet the demanding requirements of MIL-R-46082B (Type II) and ASTM D5363 (AN 0412 Group 04 Class 1 Grade 2).
  • Extends component life: Reduces the stress typically caused by heavy press fits, dresses worn parts, and completely seals the joint against air and moisture to prevent corrosion.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Bonding slip, press, and shrink-fitted cylindrical assemblies
  • Improving alignment and filling space between bearing rings and housings
  • Dressing worn cylindrical parts to keep machinery online
