Product Description

LOCTITE EA 9394C-2 AERO is a two-component, elevated-temperature-cure structural epoxy paste adhesive for aerospace bonding. The system combines a gray Part A with a purple-dark green Part B at a 100:20 mix ratio by weight. A 7-hour pot life at 25°C for a 450 g mass provides an extended working window for controlled assembly, while a 1-hour cure above 93°C develops normal performance. On phosphoric-acid-anodized 2024-T3 aluminum, typical tensile lap shear is 34.5 MPa at 25°C and 11.7 MPa at 204°C. The adhesive is qualified to MMM-A-132 Type II and has an approximate service-temperature criterion of 232°C based on retaining 6.9 MPa lap shear per ASTM D1002.

LOCTITE EA 9394C-2 AERO is a two-part structural epoxy paste designed for elevated-temperature cure and high-temperature service in aerospace bonding. It combines an extended pot life with a non-aromatic amine curing agent and retains measurable lap shear strength at temperatures above 204°C under the stated prepared-aluminum test configuration.

Processing

Mixing, application, and cure

Accurate weighing, complete mixing, controlled batch size, prepared bonding surfaces, and elevated-temperature cure are required to develop the stated performance.

Component conditioning: Bring the separate components close to room temperature, approximately 25°C, before mixing.
Mixing: Combine Part A and Part B at 100:20 by weight and mix thoroughly. Do not use volume measurement for structural applications unless special ratio-control precautions are in place.
Batch-size control: Do not mix quantities greater than 450 g. Excessive heat buildup can cause uncontrolled decomposition and toxic fumes.
Application and assembly: Apply to clean, dry, properly prepared bonding surfaces and hold the parts in contact until the adhesive is set.
Cure: Cure for 1 hour above 93°C to achieve normal performance.
Cleanup: Remove uncured excess from the work area and equipment before the adhesive hardens, using a suitable cleaning method and applicable solvent-safety controls.
Storage and handling

Store Part A at or below -18°C; refrigerated storage is recommended to maintain product quality. Store Part B at or below 25°C in a cool, well-ventilated area with the container tightly closed. Follow current container labels for shelf-life and component-specific handling requirements.

Additional results: fatigue strength of 750 psi (52 bar) for 106 cycles at 25°C; creep rupture under 1,600 psi (110 bar) for 192 hours was less than 0.1 mil at both 25°C and 149°C.
