Product Description

3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive DP460NS is an off-white, non-sag, toughened, two-part structural epoxy adhesive formulated for durable bonding across metals, ceramics, glass, wood, composites and selected plastics. It combines a 2:1 mix ratio by volume with a 60-minute work life, allowing time for adhesive application, joint assembly and repositioning. DP460NS develops handling strength in approximately four hours and reaches full cure in 24 hours at 23°C.

Processing

Surface preparation, dispensing and cure

DP460NS may be dispensed from Duo-Pak cartridges using compatible 3M™ EPX™ equipment or proportioned through two-part bulk dispensing systems. Surface condition, proportioning, mixing and joint control materially affect bonded-joint performance.

Prepare the substrates: Remove oils, dust, loose oxides, paint, mold-release agents and other contamination. Select preparation according to substrate and required bond durability.
Meter and mix: Dispense at 2:1 by volume. For manual or bulk mixing, use the documented 2:0.96 ratio by weight and mix completely until uniform.
Apply and assemble: Apply to clean, dry surfaces and complete positioning within the available working time. The non-sag formulation helps limit flow after placement.
Secure and cure: Hold the joint in position until handling strength develops. Full room-temperature cure is published as 24 hours at 23°C; heat may accelerate strength development when appropriate for the assembly.

Storage and handling

Keep both components in their original packaging and protect them from contamination, excessive heat and direct sunlight. Follow the storage limits and shelf-life information printed on the product packaging and current manufacturer documentation. Review the applicable safety documentation before handling either component.

Specimens used a 25 mm width, 12.7 mm overlap and 0.13–0.20 mm bondline. Separation rate was 2.5 mm/min for metals and 51 mm/min for plastics.
