MOLYKOTE TP-42
Harmonization Code : 3403.19 | Lubricating Preparations (With 70% or More Petroleum Oils) For Automotive and Other Uses

Main features
- 3,000 N Four-Ball Weld Load
- Water-Resistant Grease Lubrication
- Stick-Slip, Galling, and Corrosion Protection
Product Description
MOLYKOTE® TP-42 Paste is a light-beige, adhesive grease-paste for heavily loaded metallic sliding surfaces. Its mineral- and synthetic-oil carrier system combines lithium soap, solid lubricants, and an adhesion improver to support lubrication where water or metal-machining emulsions may be present. The NLGI Grade 2 paste is used primarily for chucks and clamping elements on metal-processing machines, as well as assembly, run-in, spindle, bearing, bushing, sleeve, slide, guide, and track applications. It provides high load-carrying capacity, resistance to washout, corrosion and galling protection, and stick-slip control.
Key features
- High load-carrying capacity: Provides a typical four-ball weld load of 3,000 N and an Almen-Wieland OK load of 20,000 N.
- High adhesion: Contains an adhesion improver to help retain the paste on metallic sliding surfaces.
- Washout resistance: Resists removal by water and metal-machining emulsions.
- Stick-slip control: Supports smoother movement in slow-speed sliding contacts.
- Galling and wear protection: Protects highly loaded metallic contacts during sliding and adjustment.
- Corrosion protection: Provides a typical SKF-Emcor corrosion rating of 0–1.
Applications / Suitable for
- Chucks and clamping elements on metal-processing machines
- Sliding surfaces exposed to high contact pressures
- Machining spindles
- Plain bearings, bushings, and sleeves
- Slides, guides, and tracks
- Assembly and run-in lubrication
