- 0.07 Coefficient of Friction
- Federal Meat/Poultry Program Authorization
Product Description
MOLYKOTE® 557 Silicone Dry Film Lubricant is an extreme-pressure, wax-like dry-film lubricant supplied in a solvent carrier (available as a bulk liquid or aerosol spray). Once applied, the solvent evaporates to leave a nearly transparent, clear wax film that adheres tenaciously to surfaces in both solid and fluid states. It provides exceptional release properties and heavy-duty lubrication, effectively reducing friction, wear, stick-slip, and metal seizure in demanding manufacturing and metalworking operations.
Key features
- Clean and nonstaining: Dries to a colorless film that will not stain paper or fabrics, and is formulated without intentional polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
- Extreme-pressure performance: Protects heavily loaded tracks, cams, slides, and cutting tools with a four-ball weld load capacity of 1,200 N.
- Industry authorized: Authorized for use in official establishments operating under the Federal Meat and Poultry Inspection Program (formerly USDA H2 ratings) where there is no possibility of food contact.
Applications / Suitable for
- Metalworking operations: extruding, deep drawing, spinning, and increasing the life of slitter-blades, taps, dies, and drills
- Lubricating heavily loaded bearings, slides, cams, adjusting screws, guides, and ways in machine shops
- Reducing sticking and product contamination on conveyors, knives, and handling equipment in the textile, paper, woodworking, rubber, and plastic industries
