Product Description
DOWSIL™ OS-2 Fluid is a one-part, clear, colorless methyl siloxane specialty fluid used as a mild cleaner, silicone solvent and process carrier. Its low surface tension and compatibility with most plastics and surface coatings support cleaning of multi-material parts and delicate coated surfaces, subject to compatibility testing. The fluid can be used to rinse parts after stronger cleaners, applied by spray or immersion, or impregnated into wipes for light contamination. It also serves as a solvent or carrier for silicone oils and greases and as an alternative to hydrocarbon carriers in selected industrial and consumer formulations. After cleaning, it evaporates completely without leaving a silicone trace, supporting subsequent painting or bonding. Typical density is 0.78 g/cm³, dynamic viscosity is 0.59 cP and shelf life is five years at 25°C.

Cleaning and application

Supported cleaning methods include immersion with vigorous action, spray application and wiping lightly contaminated parts with impregnated tissues.
Shelf life is five years when stored at 25°C. Keep the container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place away from heat and ignition sources. Because the fluid is a Category 2 flammable liquid and can accumulate static charge, use suitable grounding, bonding, non-sparking tools and explosion-proof ventilation as required by the process.
