- Mixing, Loading, Dispensing, and Assembly Processing
- Prepared/Primed Aerospace-Material Adhesion
Product Description
DOWSIL™ 90-006 RF Sealant & Catalyst Kit is a two-part, high-viscosity silicone elastomer for aerospace sealing and bonding applications. The red base and green curing agent are mixed at a 10:1 ratio by weight, with contrasting colors providing a visual indication of mixing uniformity. The catalyzed material has a typical two-hour working time at 25°C and cures at room temperature. It adheres well to properly prepared and primed glass, cured silicone rubber, cork, phenolic, polyester, epoxy, silicone-resin laminates, stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, and other metals. After cure, the elastomer has a typical Shore A hardness of 48, tensile strength of 600 psi, and elongation at break of 130%.
Key features
- Two-part room-temperature cure: The base and curing agent are combined at a 10:1 ratio by weight before application.
- Two-hour working time: The catalyzed material remains usable for a minimum of two hours at 25°C unless otherwise specified.
- Visual mixing confirmation: Contrasting red and green components indicate uniform blending when a consistent color is achieved.
- High-viscosity base: Typical base viscosity is 1,200,000 mPa·s at 25°C.
- Primed-substrate adhesion: Suitable substrates include glass, silicone rubber, laminates, stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, and other metals when properly prepared.
Applications / Suitable for
- Sealing and bonding aerospace components and assemblies
- Primed metal assemblies using stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, and other metals
- Assemblies incorporating glass, cured silicone rubber, cork, phenolic, polyester, epoxy, or silicone-resin laminates

DOWSIL™ 90-006 RF Sealant & Catalyst Kit
A two-part, high-viscosity silicone elastomer for aerospace sealing and bonding. The red base and green curing agent are mixed at 10:1 by weight, remain usable for a minimum of two hours at 25°C, and cure at room temperature to form a firm elastomer that adheres well to properly prepared and primed surfaces.
Two-component DOWSIL™ 90-006 RF Sealant & Catalyst Kit for controlled proportioning, mixing, and application.
As-supplied and catalyzed properties
Typical values are provided for product evaluation and are not intended for use as guaranteed specifications. Catalyzed values are based on a 10:1 base-to-curing-agent ratio by weight.
| Property | Value | Unit | Condition or context |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product form | Two-part, high-viscosity silicone elastomer | — | Base and separate curing agent |
| Component colors | Red / green | — | Base / curing agent; uniform color indicates uniform blending |
| Base viscosity | 1,200,000 | mPa·s | CTM 0050 / ASTM D1084 at 25°C |
| Mixing ratio | 10:1 | By weight | Base to curing agent |
| Working time | 2 | hours | Typical at 25°C after catalyst addition |
| Tack-free time | 2 | hours | CTM 0095; surface-cure timing is distinct from complete cure |
| Extrusion rate | 200 | g/min | CTM 0364; tested two hours after mixing |
Surface preparation, mixing, and application
Prepare the bonding surfaces before combining the components. Add one part curing agent to ten parts base by weight and mix until the contrasting colors form a uniform blend. Apply the catalyzed sealant by spatula or load it into a cartridge for pressure-gun dispensing.
Store the unopened kit at or below 32°C. Under these conditions, the product has a usable life of 12 months from the date of production. The sealant and catalyst are available together in 453 g, 5 kg, 27.9 kg, and 199.5 kg kits.
Cured properties
Typical physical-property values are based on material cured at 25°C and 50% relative humidity. They are not intended as guaranteed specifications or assembly-level performance limits.
| Property | Typical value | Unit or condition |
|---|---|---|
| Durometer hardness | 48 | Shore A; CTM 0099 / ASTM D2240; 48-hour value |
| Tensile strength | 600 | psi; CTM 0137A / ASTM D412 |
| Elongation at break | 130 | %; CTM 0137A / ASTM D412 |
| Peel strength | 5.00 | ppi; cohesive failure |
