COOLTHERM DC-812

Main features

  • Automotive Encapsulation Application
  • 1.4 x 10^16 ohm-cm Volume Resistivity
  • Resistance to Thermal Shock and Electrical Stability

Product Description

Thermoset DC-812 Epoxy Encapsulant is a two-component epoxy system developed specifically for potting high-voltage automotive ignition coils. The gray resin and amber hardener are processed at a 100:46 resin-to-hardener ratio by volume using automatic meter/mix/dispense equipment. The system combines low processing viscosity at elevated temperature with a cured Shore D hardness of 90, a volume resistivity of 1.4 × 1016 ohm-cm at 25 °C, and documented resistance to thermal shock. Its cured electrical properties support encapsulation applications requiring electrical stability at elevated temperatures.

Key features

  • Ignition-coil encapsulation: Developed specifically for potting high-voltage automotive ignition coils.
  • High electrical resistivity: Provides a typical cured volume resistivity of 1.4 × 1016 ohm-cm at 25 °C using ASTM D257.
  • Thermal-shock resistance: The cured epoxy system provides documented resistance to thermal shock and electrical stability at elevated temperature.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Potting high-voltage automotive ignition coils
  • Vacuum encapsulation using automatic meter/mix/dispense equipment
