Product Description

ARALDITE® 2081-10 is a fast-curing, two-part acrylic structural adhesive developed for bonding a range of plastics, composites and metals. The low-odour, non-flammable system provides a 10-minute open time and a 10-11 minute pot life for a 20 g mix at 25°C, supporting rapid assembly operations. The mixed adhesive is off-white and combines high strength with good flexibility. It can be dispensed from mixer-equipped cartridges or applied manually or robotically. Tested plastic substrates include ABS, PMMA, PVC and PC; polyolefins and other low-surface-energy materials are excluded. Proper cleaning and surface preparation remain important for durable bonds.

Storage and Handling

Store sealed components in their original containers at 2-8°C for up to 24 months. The product may be brought to room temperature before use, but cumulative room-temperature exposure should not exceed six months. Prolonged exposure above 25°C reduces shelf life. Follow the expiry date on the packaging and the applicable Safety Data Sheet for handling precautions.

Product-specific technical guidance

Exposed-surface tack
Atmospheric oxygen can slow cure at exposed surfaces such as fillets, leaving them tacky even when the adhesive in the bondline is cured. The supplier states that this behaviour does not affect bonding performance. Where a tack-free exposed surface is essential before sanding or painting, review the process or adhesive selection with technical support.
Equipment cleaning
Clean tools with hot water and soap before adhesive residue has cured. Cured residue is difficult and time-consuming to remove. Where solvents are used, follow the appropriate workplace controls and avoid skin and eye contact.

The supplier TDS includes typical joint-strength and durability testing across prepared substrates and defined laboratory conditions. The results should be used for product screening and validated in the intended joint design.

Rapid strength build
Typical lap-shear strength on sandblasted aluminium at 23°C exceeded 1 MPa in less than 20 minutes and 10 MPa in less than 23 minutes under contact pressure.
Strength thresholds are specific to the stated substrate, preparation, temperature and test definition.
Substrate and durability test coverage
Typical lap-shear performance was evaluated on prepared metals, plastics and composites, and after immersion, temperature exposure, humid-heat and cold cycling, cataplasma ageing, and a simulated 200°C coating post-cure cycle.
Each dataset uses its own substrate, surface preparation, cure and exposure conditions; the results do not establish universal joint durability.
