3M Paint Masking Tape 231/231A is a tan, smooth mini-crepe paper tape for industrial and aerospace paint masking, including multiple-bake finishing operations. Its rubber adhesive provides instant adhesion and holding power, while the heat-resistant, solvent- and moisture-resistant backing conforms around complex shapes and tears cleanly for efficient application. Typical construction values include 0.19 mm total thickness, 10% elongation at break, and 49 N/cm tensile strength. The tape provides clean removal following a 30-minute exposure at temperatures up to 149 deg C under the stated condition and is suited to painting automobiles, aircraft, trucks, boats, and fabricated parts. Best results are obtained when it is applied and removed within 24 hours.
