Main features
- 180 deg C Continuous Operation
- Thin High-Temperature Insulation
- Flexible-Circuit Cover Layer
Product Description
3M Polyimide Film Electrical Tape 1218 combines a 0.025 mm polyimide film backing with a non-corrosive acrylic PSA in a 0.080 mm tape for high-temperature electrical insulation. Rated under its UL listing for continuous operation up to 180 deg C, it provides minimum dielectric breakdown of 5500 V; insulation resistance is at least 1 x 10^12 ohm by ASTM D1000 at 23 deg C. The amber tape wraps coils, capacitors, transformers, wire harnesses, and leads, and also serves as a cover layer for flexible printed circuits or a solder mask during printed circuit board assembly.
Key features
- 180 deg C operation: The tape is designed for continuous operation not exceeding 180 deg C under its UL listing.
- Thin insulation profile: The construction combines 0.025 mm polyimide backing with 0.080 mm total tape thickness.
- No-preparation adhesive: The acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive requires no heat, moisture, or solvent preparation for application.
Applications
Applications include wrapping coils, capacitors, transformers, wire harnesses, and leads; solder masking; and cover-layer use on flexible printed circuits.
